Dr. Shambhu Kumar Chaudhary, a specialist in diabetes and thyroid diseases, has brought a textile industry into operation in Rautahat.

Artharv Textile, located in Brindaban–6, Harshaha, Rautahat, began operations in Shrawan [July/August].

Dr. Chaudhary, the proprietor, told Setopati that the industry—which had been under construction for the past three years—was brought into operation in Shrawan, and preparations are underway to send its textiles to the market starting next week.

Built with an investment of Rs 1.5 billion, the industry currently employs over 100 people.

"We produce fabrics required for items such as suits, pants, shirts, t-shirts, jackets, shoes, bedsheets, curtains, and bags. We import yarn from India and China, and sell the finished fabrics to garment manufacturing industries," he said. "Currently, we are producing 10 tons of fabric daily. The factory has a daily production capacity of 25 tons, and we plan to operate at full capacity soon."

Dr. Chaudhary, who has been active in the medical profession for over 20 years, previously ran a hospital in Kathmandu as well. Currently, he runs only a clinic. He shared that he stepped into this sector with the vision that, rather than solely practicing medicine, he should contribute to the country's manufacturing sector by establishing an industry.

"There are many doctors to examine patients, but I felt the country currently needs entrepreneurs, which shifted my focus toward industry," he said. "During the COVID-19 pandemic, domestic garment industries had to halt production due to raw material shortages. Seeing imported materials delayed by months and exports being impacted, I decided to invest in this sector." He added that he made the decision to establish the industry alongside his medical practice during the pandemic.

He informed that the facility is equipped with Korean robotic labs, state-of-the-art textile machinery from Turkey, industrial equipment from Germany and Taiwan, and a quality testing system aligned with international standards. According to him, special focus has been placed on quality, ensuring that the fabric's dye or color does not fade easily.
